Single & Unattached 2024 (10th Edition)

Single and Unattached Invitational Classic Single fin is an annual invite-only surf contest which mainly focuses on classic logging, single fin & no-leash surfing styles. It takes place in San Juan, La Union around February.

This year was their 10th offering and the biggest one so far with invitees from Hawaii, USA, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Reunion Islands and Thailand.

Co-founders Buji Libarnes and Nikki De La Paz came up with the idea more than a decade ago as a part of the Coast Thru Life community activity. During that time, longboarding style was more high performance/progressive hence the alternative approach. As Buji quoted, “It’s a no-leash & single-fin only contest and its held in during the month of hearts, the perfect time to show some single fin lovin”

This year’s Single & Unattached featured some of longboarding’s most renowned personalities like Robert “Wingnut” Weaver from the USA, Sam Bleakely from the UK, Matt “the Waxhead” Chojnacki from Australia alongside new school WSL World Tour no.5 Tony Silvagni, Hawaiian standout Nique Miller and LQS leader Natsumi Taoka. The event also featured the local powerhouse surfers Jay-R Esquivel, Roger Casugay, Jomarie Ebueza and Marven Abat.
